The pavilion, constructed by James Putt, was built on the northern edge of the hill, which provided an overlook view of the hollow and surrounding area. It was just the hill that formed the southern side of the hollow which Spring Creek ran through. In the fall of 1905, a pavilion was constructed on an area of town designated as West End Park, or more commonly, Hershey Park this was the area of the designated park grounds Hershey already owned - he was intending to purchase the remainder. With the chocolate factory and the relocation of the Hershey Chocolate Company to Hershey completed in June 1905, construction of infrastructure in the town began to accelerate, and development of a recreational park began. At the same time, Hershey and several business partners, involved with the chocolate company, created the Hershey Trust Company, which would becoming the owner of the future amusement park after Hershey's death in 1945, and the Hershey Improvement Company, which would later be merged with the park and other non-chocolate related operations to form Hershey Estates. However, by that time, the "koko" part of the name fell out of use and on June 1, 1905, the newborn town was officially named Hershey. The name wasn't to take official effect until mid-1905. Hershey acquired over 400 acres of land in his initial purchase, which also included water rights to Spring Creek. Hershey made the decision to build a chocolate factory on the farms to the south west of Derry Church and Spring Creek, Pennsylvania. On January 26, 1903, it became publicly known that Milton S. This used to be such a nice, relaxing place to spend some family time and I suppose if you enjoy being part of an elbow to elbow crowd in the summer heat, you might enjoy this.I'll be heading out to Knoebels even though it takes me over an hour to get there and I live 10 minutes from Hershey. The original pool at Hersheypark, which existed from 1911 through 1928, was located in what is today Comet Hollow. Once you do, the whistles blow and you have to drag the kids out so they can swelter in yet another line. It is nearly impossible to find a seat so you can chill out and watch the kids splash. There are even lines with long waits to get into the kiddie pool area. The water park, in my opinion, is poorly designed for the amount of people trying to cram into the space. You used to be able to come by early on a weekday and actually be able to walk freely without bumping into people and have wait times less than 10 minutes for most rides. There is no such thing as "down" time here anymore. Should be a great place, right? However, since the addition of the Boardwalk, this place is nothing but an excercise in patience every time we have attempted to visit. ![]() A few years ago, Hershey Park would have earned a five star rating from me.It is always immaculately kept, the rides are clean and well maintained and the place smells like chocolate. ![]()

I had no issues with leaks, dampness, or moisture underneath my protector. ![]() I left the water there for an hour (something that could happen if there is an accident in the bed overnight). The water immediately pooled into a spot on the bed and eventually, some of it absorbed into the layers of the protector. (I do this with all my waterproof mattress protector reviews.) I wanted to mimic a large spill or accident. Purple says its protector is water-resistant and water-absorbent. I put those claims to the test by pouring 10 oz of water into a concentrated area on the protector. The protector is the same material on all five sides, which means it can protect a mattress from spills on the surface and down the sides. (Check out our review of the Purple mattress here.) This means the company knows that adding a protector can spare the mattress from warranty violations caused by liquid/water damage. Purple is a relatively big player in the mattress industry. Purple does offer a one-year warranty on its mattress protector, and more information about the warranty on the company’s website is available here. They say this is “due to the nature of the product,” but I’m not really sure what that means since plenty of other mattress protector brands offer returns if customers aren’t satisfied. There is no trial or return policy with the Purple mattress protector. This will allow leaks and spills to get through the protector and onto the mattress, thus violating the mattress warranty.
